Prime Minister A. Tsipras’ meetings with the President and the Vice President of the European Parliament
Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras met today with the President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz. The discussion centered on the European Parliament (EP) taking an active and meaningful involvement in the implementation and evaluation of the Greek program. All of the Parliament’s political groups have agreed to this, and the legal aspects of the EP’s involvement are now being examined.
The Prime Minister also met with Syriza MEP and Vice-President of the European Parliament, Dimitris Papadimoulis. They examined how the European Left (GUE/NGL) can best contribute to these developments and intervene politically to implement policies that will support the weaker social classes and social cohesion in Greece.
