The Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras, met today with High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the Commission, Mrs. F. Mogherini at Maximo’s Mansion.
Welcoming HR/ VC Mrs. Mogherini, the Prime Minister expressed, at first, his condolences to the families of the two victims and wished quick recovery for the injured. Mrs. Mogherini, from her part, expressed her solidarity towards the Greek people, the support of the EU and its preparedness to provide it by any means.
The Prime Minister expressed the active support of Greece towards the upgrading of the international and peripheral role of the EU in order to contribute to peace and stability. He, also, stressed the importance of the EU contribution towards the achievement of a fair and viable solution to the Cyprus issue.
Moreover, the Prime Minister stated his concern on the issues of human rights in Turkey, highlighting that the only way to strengthen Democracy in the neighbor country is its accession process to be supported.
Mrs. Mogherini expressed her gratitude for Greece’s role, the Prime Minister’s personally, during the negotiations for the Cyprus issue, and it was agreed that the efforts for reaching a solution should be continued with persistence.
