Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras, met with U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Wilbur Ross.
During their meeting, they focused on the extremely important prospects of the bilateral economic relations after Greece’s exit from the fiscal adjustment programs and how they are marked by the dynamic participation of the U.S. in the TIF as an honored country.
Furthermore, the upgraded role of Greece was highlighted, as a pillar of stability and security, as well as a trade, transit and energy hub in the wider region.
More specifically, the important investment prospects in the sectors of tourism – real estate, infrastructure and energy (Neorio, FSRU Alexandroupolis, Hellenic and ports) were discussed.
The prospects opened in the above areas were stressed as Greece upgrades its role in the Balkans, centered on Thessaloniki.
At the same time, they underlined the importance of the support of the Greek startups in the following years, given their strong presence in this year’s TIF, since for the first time there are 120 innovative start-ups.
Also, the Prime Minister raised the issue of the impact on Greek companies arising from the imposition of duties on exports of steel and aluminum in the US, underlining that the issue must be resolved.
Finally, the US Prime Minister and U.S. Secretary of Commerce discussed extensively the developments in relation to the Cyprus EEZ and the energy map in the South East Mediterranean.
