On Tuesday, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with investors and Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in the United Arab Emirates capital.
On the second day of his visit to the Arabian Peninsula, the Prime Minister had a morning meeting with Mubadala’s Deputy Group CEO, Mr Homaid Al Shimmari.
After that, a working lunch with Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan was held, in the presence of the Director of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA). The lunch was held at ADIA’s headquarters.
The main topic of those meetings was the investment interest already displayed by the Abu Dhabi’s state investment authorities in Greece. Given the improved image of our country in international markets, the growth prospects of the Greek economy and the investment-friendly initiatives of the government, Kyriakos Mitsotakis called on Abu Dhabi’s fund managers to strengthen their presence in our country.
During his meeting with Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, developments in the eastern Mediterranean region were also discussed, with emphasis on the provocative behavior of Turkey, especially on the issue of Libya and an alignment of opinions was noted.
The positive atmosphere during the meeting and the Prime Minister’s one-on-one conversation with the Crown Prince resulted in the strategic decision to deepen political and economic relations between the two countries. In particular, the United Arab Emirates expressed a strong desire to strengthen economic relations with Greece, in the context of enhancing political cooperation between the two countries.
During the meetings, UAE expressed their intention to make Greece the dominant tourist destination in the eastern Mediterranean region. At the same time, at the meetings with the UAE state investment authorities, an intense interest for investments in Greece, in the agri-food, tourism and real estate sectors, was also noted.
The Prime Minister is accompanied in his visit to the Arabian Peninsula by the Minister of Development, Adonis Georgiadis; the Deputy Foreign Minister in charge of Economic Diplomacy and Openness, Kostas Frangogiannis; the National Security Adviser to the Prime Minister’s Office, Alexios Ioannis Diakopoulos; the Chief Economic Adviser to the Prime Minister, Alexis Patelis; and by the Deputy Diplomatic Counsellor to the Prime Minister, Gregory Delavekouras.
