Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis meets US Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met today with US Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette, at Maximos Mansion.

The meeting revolved around energy cooperation between Athens and Washington, which is one out of the six priority sectors in the Strategic Dialogue between Greece and the United States. Cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy is constantly growing. Beyond its bilateral aspect it also has a regional dimension, as our country is turning into a powerful energy hub for the wider region.

The prospect of further boosting US energy investments in Greece energy was discussed during the meeting, taking into account the Greek government’s initiatives aimed at constantly improving the investment environment in the country. The two sides are fully aligned as regards the continuation and strengthening of the cooperation between Greece and the US, as they share a common vision for peace, stability and growth in the wider region.

The meeting was attended by Environment and Energy Minister Kostis Hatzidakis, Secretary-General for Energy and Mineral Resources Alexandra Sdoukou and the head of the Premier’s diplomatic office, Eleni Sourani.

On the US side, the meeting was attended by Matthew Zais, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary at the Office of International Affairs of the Energy Department, US Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic Geoffrey R. Pyatt and the embassy’s Economic Counselor Chip Laitinen.
