Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met, on Thursday, with the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, at the headquarters of the Organization in New York, in the context of the 77th UN General Assembly.
During their meeting, they examined international and regional issues, specifically matters of Greek interest.
On the Cyprus issue, Kyriakos Mitsotakis pointed out that the stance of Turkey and of the Turkish-Cypriot side equates to a complete rejection of the binding resolutions of the Security Council on the peaceful and fair settlement of the Cyprus issue, within the framework of a bizonal, bicommunal federation.
The Prime Minister also informed the Secretary General about Turkey’s aggressiveness, which is manifested both through the ratcheting up of illegal claims, and on a rhetorical level. He reiterated that Athens always acts in accordance with International Law, the provisions of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and the principles of good neighbor relations.
