Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met and had a working dinner today with the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken at Maximos Mansion.

During their discussion, they overviewed Greek American relations. The exceptional level of these relations was confirmed in view of the opening of the 4th round of Strategic Dialogue between Greece and the US, which will take place tomorrow. The two sides agreed to further deepen relations.

The Prime Minister and Mr. Blinken exchanged views on international, European and regional issues, focusing on the developments in Ukraine.

The US Secretary of State expressed his appreciation to the Prime Minister for the unconditional support provided by Greece to Ukraine from the first moment and underlined Greece’s role as a pillar of stability and security in the wider region.

They also discussed the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and the devastating earthquakes in Turkey.

Mr Blinken thanked the Prime Minister for the immediate assistance that Greece provided to Turkey at this difficult time.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Mr. Blinken agreed on the importance of security and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean at a critical geopolitical juncture.

The Prime Minister pointed out that Greece’s firm position and the guiding principle of its policy was and always is the peaceful resolution of disputes and good neighborly relations based on International Law.

The working dinner was attended, on behalf of the Greek government, by the Minister of National Defence Nikos Panagiotopoulos, the Minister of Culture and Sports Lina Mendoni, the Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister Ioannis Bratakos, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Theocharis Lalakos, the Ambassador of Greece to the United States Alexandra Papadopoulou, the Director of the Prime Minister’s Diplomatic Office, Ambassador Anna-Maria Boura, and the Deputy Government Spokesperson Aristotelia Peloni.
