Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met this morning, at Maximos Mansion, with the Finnish European Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jutta Urpilainen.
During their meeting, they discussed the effects of the war in Ukraine, the consequences of climate change, which our country has experienced with unprecedented weather phenomena and disasters, as well as the migration issue, placing emphasis on its external dimension and the countries of Africa.
The Prime Minister stressed the need for Europe to do more to adapt to the climate crisis, both in terms of flexibility as regards financial instruments and resilience to climate change, and underlined the need to further strengthen the European Civil Protection Mechanism (rescEU).
They also discussed the priorities of the “Global Gateway” strategy, which aims to promote sustainable infrastructure investments in priority areas such as digital transformation, climate and energy, transport, health, education and research, as well as the “Team Europe” initiatives.
