Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had a telephone conversation with the President of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, whom he congratulated on his re-election.
During their telephone conversation, they discussed the further strengthening of strategic relations between Greece and Egypt, as well as the latest developments in the region.
The Prime Minister reiterated his growing concern about the humanitarian situation in Gaza and stressed that Greece supports Egypt’s efforts for the safe and immediate delivery of humanitarian aid to the civilian population.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s constructive attitude towards the resolution of the crisis in the Middle East.
The two leaders expressed their concern about the growing tension on the Israel-Lebanon border.
They also discussed relations between Egypt and the EU. Greece supports their strengthening, with the Prime Minister stressing that Egypt is a pillar of stability in the wider region.
