Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met, on the sidelines of the 79th UN General Assembly in New York, with the Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
During the meeting, they discussed the strengthening of bilateral relations, while the Prime Minister thanked the Crown Prince for Kuwait’s support for Greece’s candidacy for the position of non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the period 2025-2026.
They also exchanged views on developments in the Middle East and the Red Sea.
The Prime Minister reiterated Greece’s position in favour of free navigation in the region.
The Prime Minister also met with representatives of American Jewish organisations.
During the meeting, they discussed international and regional developments, with emphasis on the war in Ukraine and the latest developments in the Middle East.
The Prime Minister reiterated Greece’s support for Israel’s right to self-defence, as well as the need to reach an immediate ceasefire agreement for the release of hostages and the provision of humanitarian aid in Gaza.
