Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly.
During the meeting, Greece’s priorities for its tenure as a non-permanent member of the Security Council for the 2025-26 term were discussed.
The Prime Minister stressed that Greece wants to be a bridge between the South and the North, the West and the East, as it is a member state of the EU and NATO, and at the same time talks with countries of the Global South.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis reiterated his appreciation for the Secretary-General’s efforts to restart talks on the Cyprus issue.
The Prime Minister underlined that every opportunity for a solution to the Cyprus issue must be utilized on the basis of the UN Security Council resolutions.
