Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met on the sidelines of the first EU-Gulf Cooperation Council Summit with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, with the Prime Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah and with the Deputy Prime Minister of Oman for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs, Sheikh Sayyid Asaad bin Tarik.
During the meetings, the Prime Minister underlined the importance of promoting EU-GCC relations, especially at this time of major regional challenges.
Regarding developments in the Middle East, Kyriakos Mitsotakis stressed the need for de-escalation and avoidance of flare-ups in the region and reiterated his call for an immediate ceasefire and restraint.
During the meetings, they also discussed the prospects for strengthening economic cooperation and investment opportunities in Greece, with emphasis on Greece’s position as a commercial and energy hub and gateway to Europe.
