Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, on the sidelines of COP29.
During the meeting they discussed the improvement of bilateral relations and the positive momentum of strengthening contacts in recent times.
Moreover, they discussed energy cooperation between the two countries, as Azerbaijan is an important supplier of natural gas to our country.
The two leaders also exchanged views on regional developments. The Prime Minister welcomed the start of direct contacts between Azerbaijan and Cyprus and the participation of the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides in COP29, which marks the first visit of a President of the Republic of Cyprus to Azerbaijan.
Reference was also made to the prospects and the road map for the final achievement of peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
On the sidelines of COP29, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis also held meetings with the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
During the meetings, they discussed the strengthening of relations and business cooperation with both Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, as well as the prospects for cooperation on issues of common interest during Greece’s tenure as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2025-26 term.
Issues of international interest were also discussed.
